Testimonies of Human Rights Violations in Peru
In September 2002, testimonies were collected in Lima, Peru, detailing various human rights violations. These included accounts of detention, torture, and murder in regions such as San Pedro, Chulucanas, Piura, and Ticrapo, Castrovirreyna, Huancavelica. The testimonies highlight the role of religion as a source of strength and solace for those affected by the violence.
El pasaje recoge testimonios de víctimas de violaciones de derechos humanos recopilados por la CVR en diferentes ciudades peruanas entre 2002 y 2003. Los testimonios narran hechos de detención y encarcelamiento en San Pedro, Chulucanas (Piura), desapariciones en Huamanga (Ayacucho), asesinatos en Ticrapo (Huancavelica), torturas en Huacho (Lima), y otros actos de violencia. El documento también refleja cómo las víctimas buscaron fortaleza espiritual y fe religiosa para enfrentar el trauma, la desesperanza y el miedo generado por estos eventos, mientras que otros se refugiaron en la religión para evitar el dolor del recuerdo.
