Pucará Massacre
In the early hours of November 4, 1989, two vehicles carrying armed individuals entered the district of Pucará. They claimed to be members of the MRTA, detonated bombs, and painted warnings against voting in the upcoming municipal elections. The attackers then targeted individuals they accused of being members of the PCP-SL and executed them.
En la madrugada del 4 de noviembre de 1989, dos camionetas con aproximadamente veinte individuos armados ingresaron a domicilios en el distrito de Pucará, manifestando ser del MRTA. Los militares detonaron bombas, realizaron pintas alusivas al grupo subversivo y asesinaron a personas que identificaban como miembros del PCP-SL. Los familiares sepultaron los restos apresuradamente por directiva de efectivos del Ejército que llegaron al poblado la mañana siguiente. Los hechos fueron denunciados en la Comisaría de Sapallanga.
