Military Actions in Huayao
On 24 July 1986, after the assassination of Lucas Terris Acevedo by Sendero Luminoso militants, the military entered Huayao under the command of a lieutenant known as 'TRAIDO'. They took Acevedo's body to the ronderos' meeting place and buried it in the cemetery. Subsequently, they executed Simion Miguel Vargas, who only spoke Quechua, in front of 150 people and threatened the villagers with death if they collaborated with Sendero Luminoso.
En diciembre de 1984, la Infantería de Marina organizó Rondas Campesinas en Huayao tras enterarse de reuniones de Sendero Luminoso. El 24 de julio de 1986, después de que senderistas asesinaran a Lucas Terris Acevedo, militares bajo el mando del teniente "TRAIDO" ingresaron a la comunidad.
