Exhumation of Victims in Military Investigation
In 1988, a military court in Peru ordered the exhumation of the bodies of two victims, Esperanza Ruiz Soto and Dionicia Villaroel Villanueva, to determine the exact cause of their deaths. This action was taken amidst a controversial investigation where military personnel were accused of killing seven civilians. The exhumation aimed to clarify discrepancies in the testimonies and the cause of death, as the accused had confessed to the murders despite forensic evidence suggesting otherwise.
Ante las dudas sobre la causa de muerte de siete civiles y las inconsistencias entre las autoimputaciones de los acusados y las características de los cadáveres, el Juzgado Militar ordenó la exhumación de dos de las víctimas: Esperanza Ruiz Soto y Dionicia Villaroel Villanueva. La diligencia fue realizada el 20 de abril de 1988 por el Mayor de Sanidad EP Félix, con el objetivo de esclarecer si realmente los acusados fueron responsables de las muertes.
