Massacre in Putis, Ayacucho
On September 15, 1984, military forces from the Base of Putis entered the annex of the same name in Ayacucho. The day before, local community leaders had agreed to go to the Base to hand over their belongings and livestock. The military accused them of being 'terrorists' and executed them. The following day, the massacre continued, with the military separating people by sex and age, and subsequently raping and executing the women.
