Military Incursion and Torture in Chalhuamayo Alto
On the night of October 9, 1996, military personnel from the bases of Pichari and Tambo entered the community of Chalhuamayo Alto in the district of Tambo, province of La Mar, department of Ayacucho. They detained eight individuals, who were then taken to the military base in Tambo and later to Pichari, where they were allegedly tortured and threatened to extract information about their supposed subversive activities.
La noche del 9 de octubre de 1996, efectivos militares de las bases de Pichari y Tambo incursionaron en la comunidad de Chalhuamayo Alto, distrito de Tambo, provincia de La Mar, departamento de Ayacucho. Detuvieron a ocho personas, todas conducidas a la base militar de Tambo y posteriormente a la de Pichari. En estas bases habrían sido torturadas y amenazadas a fin de que informaran sobre sus supuestas actividades subversivas.
