Detention and Release of Pilar Anchita
Pilar Anchita, vice-president of the FEPOMUVES, assumed the presidency amidst a leadership vacuum caused by the PCP-SL's efforts to dismantle the organization. Despite accusations of being sympathetic to the PCP-SL, Anchita denied any affiliation with the group. In 1997, she was detained on charges of terrorism but was released a few months later due to a lack of evidence.
Pilar Anchita asumió la presidencia de FEPOMUVES en contexto de vacío dirigencial tras el descabezamiento de la organización por el PCP-SL. Había sido señalada públicamente como «filo-senderista» y acusada de terrorismo en medios de comunicación durante 1992 y 1993, supuestamente por su origen ayacuchano y cuestionamiento a María Elena Moyano por corrupción y clientelismo político. Anchita fue detenida en 1997 y liberada pocos meses después debido a la falta de pruebas en su contra.
