Torture and Murder of SIE Informants in Peru
In 1997, two informants for the Peruvian Army Intelligence Service (SIE) were targeted in a series of violent acts. Mariela Barreto was found decapitated on March 23, 1997, and Leonor La Rosa was reportedly tortured, as revealed in a report by Pamela Vértiz on April 6, 1997. These events highlighted the oppressive tactics used by the government under the influence of Vladimiro Montesinos, leading to widespread condemnation and calls for justice.
Los investigadores de prensa tuvieron como fuentes a miembros del SIE, incluyendo a Mariela Barreto, quien fue hallada decapitada el 23 de marzo de 1997, y Leonor La Rosa, quien fue torturada según denunció un reportaje de Pamela Vértiz en Contrapunto el 6 de abril de 1997.
