Enfrentamiento en el Puerto de Mantaro
In 1991, a confrontation took place at Mantaro Port between the Peruvian Army and the Shining Path insurgent group. During this confrontation, members of the army were attacked and killed by the Shining Path, who waited on the hill to ambush the military forces. This event is part of a series of violent conflicts in the region during Peru's violent era.
En 1991 ocurrió un enfrentamiento entre Sendero Luminoso y el Ejército en el Puerto de Mantaro, donde los miembros de la organización subversiva emboscaron a los soldados desde un cerro mientras estos cruzaban el río. El ataque resultó en la muerte de oficiales militares como capitanes y tenientes. Los constantes operaciones militares llevaron a la población a vivir en alerta permanente, escondiéndose cuando llegaba el Ejército por temor a ser identificados como subversivos y ejecutados.
