Assassination of Luis Enrique in Lucanamarca
Luis Enrique, a resident of Lucanamarca, was assassinated by the local committee of the PCP-SL on January 30, 1983, after publicly criticizing the restrictions imposed by the group during the town's anniversary celebrations. The PCP-SL, despite advocating for an egalitarian society, maintained strict control over local festivities and resources, leading to discontent among the villagers. Enrique's murder highlighted the oppressive measures and abuses committed by the PCP-SL against the communities they claimed to support.
