First Sendero Luminoso Incursion in Angasmarca
In 1981, the Shining Path (PCP-SL) conducted its first incursion in Angasmarca, a strategic location in Santiago de Chuco, Peru. The group destroyed the cooperative, killed a police officer, and established Angasmarca as a 'liberated zone'. This event marked the beginning of the Shining Path's expansion in the region, leading to further violence and the establishment of bases in surrounding areas.
Precisamente en 1981 se registra la primera incursión senderista a Angasmarca, que destruye totalmente la cooperativa. El grupo del PCP-SL, con presencia del mismo Osman Morote, además de destruir las instalaciones de la SAIS y saquear y repartir los bienes, asesinó a un Policía y vejó a otros dos. Desde Angasmarca el PCP-SL irradió su accionar a todo Santiago de Chuco, logrando asentarse en diversas zonas ganaderas y estableciendo un centro de operaciones importante en esta hacienda convertida en SAIS «José de San Martín Limitada N° 19».
