Amalia Tolentino was intercepted and raped by a patrol of 70 soldiers on April 8, 1993 while traveling from Puerto de Moyuna to Huánuco. The perpetrators justified the act as retaliation for having previously denounced the rape of another woman.
Mrs. Amalia Tolentino was intercepted by a military patrol of 70 soldiers on April 8, 1993 when she was traveling with other people from Puerto de Moyuna to Huánuco. She was the victim of rape by the soldiers during this transfer. Mrs. Tolentino reported the incident to the Special Prosecutor's Office for Human Rights in Huánuco. Days before this incident, she had reported the case of Mrs. Carmen Pariona, who was also raped by military personnel at a base, and an officer stated that they deserved it for having made the previous report.
