On November 23, 1992, María Magdalena Monteza Benavides declared before the judge that she believed she was pregnant. This fact has been argued in different instances as proof of the rape suffered during her detention. Subsequently, a medical examination showed that Magdalena was in fact approximately eight and a half months pregnant at the time. This fact places the conception of the minor around the last days of October 1992, coinciding with the period of her clandestine detention and the torture denounced. On July 14, 1993 she gave birth to her youngest daughter K.E.M.B.
