Murder of authorities in Inchupalla

On July 29, 1992, a detachment of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso assassinated four authorities and a child in the district of Inchupalla, Huancané, Puno. This attack was part of an upsurge of subversive violence in the region during 1991-1992.

On Sunday, July 29, 1992, a detachment of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso raided the district of Inchupalla, province of Huancané, department of Puno. During this action, the subversives killed four local authorities and a child. This attack was part of an upsurge of subversive violence in Puno during 1991 and 1992, which included multiple assassinations of authorities and leaders in various districts of the department. The event occurred a few weeks before the capture of Abimael Guzmán in September 1992, which would mark the beginning of the definitive decline of violence in the region.
