On June 19, 1992, subversives took over the town of Dos de Mayo in the district of Mazamari, province of Satipo. During this incursion, the subversives killed 7 villagers. This attack took place in the context of the intense activity of the PCP-SL in the province of Satipo during 1992, a year that registered the highest number of detainees-disappeared in the whole country. The event occurred in an area where previously, in January 1992, an MRTA camp located near the village had been destroyed by the army.
