Murder of seven authorities in Quiparacra

On May 17, 1992, the Shining Path PCP publicly assassinated seven local authorities in Quiparacra, Huachon district, Junin. The victims had decided to remain in their posts despite subversive threats.

On May 17, 1992, the Shining Path PCP raided the annex of Quiparacra, located in the district of Huachon. In the presence of the assembled villagers, the subversive column assassinated seven local authorities who had decided to confront the threats and remain in their posts. This attack was part of a series of violent incursions that the PCP-SL carried out in May 1992 in several districts in the area (Paucartambo, Huachón and Ulcumayo), as part of their strategy to eliminate authorities who opposed their control. The assassinations took place in the context of the so-called "caravan of death" that the PCP-SL carried out in 1992 in this strategic region, seeking to ensure a corridor of mobilization towards Pasco.
