Hikers' attack in Ventanilla
In January 1992, the PCP-SL carried out multiple attacks in Ventanilla, including the launching of an explosive against a police house used for food distribution and the destruction of a water reservoir. A local leader was injured in a second attack.
In January 1992, in response to the military and police presence in the area, Shining Path members threw an explosive at a house that the police were going to use to distribute food to the population in Ventanilla. They also destroyed a canvas water reservoir in a young town in Ventanilla. At the end of that month, a leader of the Fraternidad settlement was injured after a second Shining Path attempt on his life. These attacks occurred in the context of previous operations by the Navy and police forces in December 1991, when 20 suspected Shining Pathists were captured in the area between the international airport and the district of Ventanilla.
