A powerful bus-bomb was launched against the facade of the Villa El Salvador municipality, destroying part of it, the police station, the Popular Communication Center and dozens of neighboring houses. The attack occurred in the context of the PCP-SL's escalation of violence in the district, after the assassination of María Elena Moyano in February 1992 and in the midst of the Shining Path's strategy of creating a power vacuum. One police officer was killed in the attack and several others were wounded. This attack was part of the series of car bombings that the PCP-SL carried out in Lima during 1992, a year in which more than half of the subversive acts in the whole country were registered.
