Journalist Luis Morales Ortega shot five times in Huamanga for denouncing human rights violations
On July 13, 1991, at approximately 8:45 a.m., journalist Luis Antonio Morales Ortega was intercepted and killed by two men as he was walking along the fifth block of San Martin Street in Huamanga. He was shot five times with a .38 caliber revolver. Morales Ortega was known for denouncing human rights violations in Ayacucho, including the massacres of Accomarca, Cayara and Soccos.
