Confrontation at Sello de Oro
Clash between ronderos from Sivia and hikers in Sello de Oro that left 13 people dead in July 1991.
A group of Sivia patrols, made up of ronderos from different communities, went to Sello de Oro where they clashed with hikers. The confrontation resulted in the death of 13 people. This event is framed in the context of the confrontations between the peasant patrols and the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the Apurimac River Valley during the period of maximum violence in the area.
