Army officers indicted for murder of journalist Hugo Bustíos, military justice opens parallel investigation
As a consequence of the murder of journalist Hugo Bustíos Saavedra, in May 1991 Army officers Víctor La Vera Hernández and Amador Vidal Sambenito were charged with the crime of homicide. Simultaneously, the Military Justice opened a judicial investigation the same month, initiating a dispute of competence that would eventually result in the impunity of those responsible.
