Third MRTA Central Unity Committee
Meeting of the Third Central Unity Committee of the MRTA in August 1990, where the organization and military plans were adjusted after the escape of its main leaders from Castro Castro prison. The event made it possible to reorganize the movement's operational structure with the released cadres.
The MRTA held its Third Central Unity Committee in August 1990, after the spectacular escape of 47 prisoners from the Castro Castro prison in July, including its main leaders Víctor Polay Campos and Alberto Gálvez Olaechea. In this committee, the organization and its military plans were adjusted, taking into account the cadres and leaders who escaped from Canto Grande. This event represented a strategic reorganization of the MRTA after the liberation of its leadership. The committee allowed the MRTA to rearticulate its operational structure and define new lines of military action with the reinforcement of its released leaders.
