Asháninka Army Patrols
In 1990, the Asháninka Army of Bajo Tambo began patrols in the area and carried out several attacks against the PCP-Sendero Luminoso Main Force, especially in the communities of Cheni and Anapati.
During 1990, the Asháninka Army began patrolling the Bajo Tambo area. This army was formed by the communities of Bajo Tambo under the leadership of Poyeni, in response to the advance of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso in the region. In the same year there were several attacks against the PCP-SL Main Force, especially in Cheni and Anapati, communities neighboring Otica. These patrols were part of the organized resistance of the Asháninka communities against the presence and control of the Shining Path in their territories.
