Assassination of Journalists Hugo Bustíos and Eduardo Rojas
On November 24, 1988, journalists Hugo Bustíos and Eduardo Rojas were obstructed by military authorities while investigating the murder of a woman and her son in Erapata, Peru. The military, under the command of 'Javier Landa Dupont', hindered their efforts to gather information. Bustíos was later summoned to the Castropampa military base, where he was interrogated and subsequently assassinated by individuals reportedly linked to the military.
El 24 de noviembre de 1988, los periodistas Hugo Bustíos y Eduardo Rojas fueron obstaculizados por autoridades militares en Ayacucho mientras investigaban el asesinato de una anciana y su hijo en Erapata. El Comandante Javier Landa Dupont del Cuartel de Castropampa citó a Bustíos al cuartel bajo pretexto de autorización para reportear, mientras un vehículo militar con efectivos vestidos de civil salía del cuartel. Testigos identificaron a los asesinos vistiendo polos blancos, la misma ropa de los militares que abandonaron la base. Solo el Jefe del Cuartel y el jefe de la patrulla conocían el paradero de los periodistas.
