15 Ashaninka ronderos murdered in Dos de Mayo

The Shining Path PCP assassinated 15 ronderos from the Tsiriari valley communities in Dos de Mayo. This provoked the affected communities to move to Mazamari in search of protection. The assassination occurred in the context of the control that the PCP-SL had been developing in the Satipo area, which turned into intense violence with the razing of native communities and colonist villages. The installation of a counter-subversive base at Km. 4 of the marginal road in Satipo at the end of 1989 had encouraged the reaction of the natives and settlers against the PCP-SL.
