Shining Path killed six people in Bajo Tambo

On November 14, 1989, Shining Path killed six people in Bajo Tambo in retaliation for the resistance of the communities in the area. This attack was part of a series of violent incursions against the Asháninka communities that opposed the subversive advance.

On November 14, 1989, the PCP-SL (Shining Path) assassinated six people in Bajo Tambo as part of their repeated attacks against communities in the area. This attack took place in the context of the resistance shown by the communities of Bajo Tambo, together with Cutivireni, to the advance of the Shining Path in the region. During 1989, the PCP-SL had significantly increased its actions in the area, establishing popular committees and exercising control over the Asháninka communities. The communities that showed the greatest resistance, such as those in Bajo Tambo, were repeatedly and violently attacked by the subversive organization.
