On July 26, 1989, nine community members were detained by military forces in the town of Colcapampa, Maní district, Oyón province. The detainees were accused of terrorism and never reappeared. This event is part of the counter-subversive response in the region, where forced disappearances became a recurrent practice against people suspected of belonging to or supporting the PCP-SL. The disappearances occurred in the context of the Shining Path offensive that had spread between 1989 and 1990 to various localities in the region.
