March for Peace and Development in San Juan de Lurigancho
In response to the violence and terrorism affecting San Juan de Lurigancho, a large march for peace and development was organized on October 27, 1991. This event was a significant demonstration against terrorism, with participants carrying banners denouncing violence and promoting the value of life. The march was part of broader community efforts to resist terror and promote human rights, ultimately contributing to the decline of terrorist activities in the region.
La gran marcha por la paz y el desarrollo se llevó a cabo el 27 de octubre de 1991, partiendo desde Caja de Agua hacia Canto Grande en San Juan de Lurigancho. Organizada por comunidades cristianas y un recién nacido "Frente Único", contó con delegaciones de El Agustino, Comas, Vitarte y Villa El Salvador. El lema de la marcha, "Si es contra mi vecino, también es contra mí", recogía las palabras de Alfredo Aguirre y Fortunato Collazos, dirigentes asesinados en el asentamiento humano Juan Pablo II. Esta iniciativa popular fue parte de los esfuerzos que contribuyeron a debilitar la acción del terror en el país.
