PCP-SL murders journalist Bárbara D'Achille and engineer Esteban Bohórquez in Huancavelica
Italian journalist Barbara D'Achille, Head of the Ecology Section of the newspaper El Comercio, and engineer Esteban Bohórquez Rondón, Director of Special Projects of CORDE-Huancavelica, were intercepted by an armed group of the PCP-SL at the 'Martha' mine while traveling to the South American Camelids Project. They were detained and taken to the Tutacoccha lagoon. Around 5:00 p.m., three companions were released. Subsequently, D'Achille was killed with stones that shattered her skull, and Bohórquez was shot twice in the head. The van was dynamited.
