Assassination of Jorge Luis Cerrón Acosta
Jorge Luis Cerrón Acosta, a 22-year-old agronomy student and member of the Pastoral University Team, was assassinated by Shining Path (SL) operatives. He was shot twice, once in the back of the head and then on the ground, with a note left on his body accusing him of misleading the poor. His murder marked a period of heightened danger for members of the Pastoral University Team, as SL began targeting them for assassination.
El 30 de septiembre de 1991 fue asesinado por SL el joven laico Jorge Luis Cerrón Acosta. El evento ocurrió en el contexto de la violencia en el Valle del Mantaro, donde la población se encontraba entre dos fuegos debido a la subversión y la represión estatal. Esta muerte fue registrada por la Arquidiócesis de Huancayo, que a través de su Vicaría de Solidaridad documentaba las violaciones a los derechos humanos en la región.
