Killing of peasants in Pucallpa during march

Eight peasants and one student were killed while marching to celebrate the end of a strike over refuge prices for corn and rice. The police shot at the demonstrators believing that Sendero Luminoso was involved, but it was not true. The wounded took refuge in the Vicariate as they feared going to the hospital. A week later, Bishop Prévost said a prayer for the fallen in the Plaza de Armas.
