  Attack against the bishopric of Chulucanas

  They attacked the bishopric of Chulucanas in Piura, where Bishop McNabb and six priests, who were unharmed, were staying. This attack is part of the Shining Path's escalation of violence against the Catholic Church hierarchy. The objective was to intimidate religious leaders.

  6,000 people marched for peace in Lima

  About six thousand people, coming from all the Vicariates of the Archdiocese of Lima, and a delegation from Callao, gathered for the 6th Day of Fasting and Prayer for Peace in Peru, which culminated with a march for peace led by Bishops Augusto Beuzeville and Javier Ariz.
