On April 12, 1988, a group of hikers mistaken for striking workers fatally wounded Brankco Pejnovil Baigm, general manager of the Hilados S.A. factory. The workers repelled the attackers and helped the injured person. El Diario, spokesman of the PCP-SL, pointed out days later the correctness of the action.
On October 1, 1987, the PCP-SL assassinated Nelson Pozo, industrial relations manager of the Rayón company. This was one of the first assassinations of company officials as part of the Shining Path strategy of attacking those in charge of labor relations with the unions.
