   The PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked the Quinua police post, resulting in the death of Sergeant Ramiro Flores Sulca, who was the first policeman killed by this subversive organization. This attack was one of the first combat experiences for many young Shining Path cadres and served as a 'baptism' into armed subversion.
