Assassination of Colonel Manuel Tumba Ortega
Colonel Manuel Tumba Ortega, a high-ranking officer in the Peruvian police force, was assassinated in 1992. He had been involved in anti-terrorism efforts against the Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path. The decision for his assassination was made by the party's regional leadership in Lima.
