The Pardon of Fujimori: The Reasons Peruvian Justice Ordered the Arrest of the Former President
Peru's Supreme Court annulled this Wednesday the pardon granted to former Peruvian president (1990-2000) and ordered his return to prison. Former president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK) had granted him this benefit "for humanitarian reasons" a few hours before Christmas Eve 2017. At the time of receiving this presidential grace, Fujimori was serving a 25-year sentence — until 2032 — for the massacres at Barrios Altos in 1991 and La Cantuta in 1992.
