Only 5 Defendants Remain in the Los Cabitos Case
The trial began in 2005 against the entire senior staff of the Huamanga military barracks for the death and disappearance of more than 50 people in 1983. The refusal of the Ministry of Defense (MINDEF) to provide information about personnel assigned to the Los Cabitos barracks in 1983 has caused the proceedings for human rights violations committed at that Army installation to go unresolved for a decade in the Judiciary, according to Gloria Cano, executive director of the Asociación Pro Derechos Humanos (Aprodeh).
