Mikael Winström: "The State and Shining Path Engaged in a Perverse Ritual"
Interview with Mikael Winström, director of the documentary Tempestad en los Andes (Storm in the Andes), presented at the 18th Lima Film Festival. This documentary addresses the internal war we lived through, and its originality lies in the focus and the perspective of Josefin, the niece of Augusta la Torre, wife of Abimael Guzmán. The young woman came to Peru to contrast the account of the war that her father told her from childhood. Here she meets Flor, whose brother is one of the victims who died at El Frontón. There is confrontation, reflection, and the accusation against former president Alan García is not softened. It is the fourth documentary that Winström has filmed in Peru. He knows our reality better than some Peruvians.
