Los Cabitos. Horror and Death
The publication of a book about what happened at the Los Cabitos barracks in Ayacucho in 1983 invites reflection on a tragedy that some wish to silence (Cuartel Los Cabitos. Lugar de horror y muerte. Lima: Aprodeh, 2014). At the end of 1982, architect Fernando Belaunde ordered the Armed Forces to assume responsibility for suppressing the Sendero subversive outbreak in Ayacucho, which unleashed a course of action that left a terrible toll of massive human rights violations.
