Changes in Health Perceptions Among War-Displaced Populations, Ayacucho, Peru: 1980–2004
This paper aims to describe the changes in health perceptions among indigenous populations displaced by war from their communities of origin to the city of Ayacucho, Peru, during the period from 1980 to 2004. Using ethnographic research techniques, information provided by the displaced population in the city of Ayacucho was processed regarding their perception of their individual and family health, considering three moments: the community of origin; during displacement; and during the process of permanent integration into the city once the war ended in 1993.
