Two Active-Duty Military Officers Convicted for the Forced Disappearance of Teacher Rubén Villanueva in Lircay in March 1990
On Monday, September 23, the Sala Penal Nacional convicted Army Brigadier General Carlos Alberto Paz Figueroa, former head of the military base at Lircay, and Lieutenant Colonel EP Yorvil Távara Olea to 15 years in prison for the enforced disappearance of Rubén Villanueva Toro, which occurred on March 25, 1990. Judges Marco Cerna Bazán and María Vidal La Rosa Sánchez signed the conviction.
