TORTURE IN PERU
Despite the fact that torture is currently one of the most widespread forms of human rights violation in Peru — as we will detail below — the Peruvian State does not take the necessary actions to prevent and punish it, does not guarantee victims access to justice and adequate comprehensive reparation, and also fails to provide protection to torture victims and their defenders, who have been subjected to threats, harassment, and attempts on their lives.
