The CVR and the Concept of Truth
Political actors and opinion columnists who have questioned the Final Report of the Comisión de la Verdad y la Reconciliación (CVR) have frequently sought to dismiss it by accusing it of aspiring to present a definitive interpretation of what occurred. They contend that the Final Report was conceived as a sacred text for a specific group with political or ideological interests. Of course, this claim has no basis. This is further evidence that these critics have set out to reject the document without even reading it.
