Justice and Truth: A Slamming Door in the Faces of Victims
This year, in connection with the sentence issued by the Corte Suprema de Justicia in the Barrios Altos case, crimes against humanity returned to the top of the public agenda in Peruvian society. What was intended to be a turning point at the jurisprudential level in matters of human rights ultimately became a clear victory for the human rights movement, backed by a broad social majority unwilling to allow impunity. But even with this important victory, the matter is far more complex.
