"You're Screwed, You're in the Barracks." Trial for the Cabitos Case: Chronicles of the Hearings in Ayacucho (Part II)
For the second time in the ongoing oral trial of the Los Cabitos case (1983), the Sala Penal Nacional collected witness testimony in the city of Huamanga between August 21 and 24. Over four days of public hearings, 32 witnesses — including survivors, family members of victims, and witnesses to the crimes being tried — recounted various episodes of forced disappearance, extrajudicial execution, and torture suffered within the Los Cabitos barracks and the lengthy, almost always fruitless search for justice over nearly 30 years.
