Truth, a Fundamental Right
On March 18th, the Constitutional Tribunal issued a landmark ruling recognizing the right to truth as a fundamental right. The case of Genaro Villegas, a student who disappeared in 1992, for which a habeas corpus petition had been filed, made it possible for the Constitutional Tribunal to establish jurisprudence and elevate to the status of a fundamental right what until recently had been preserved only as a deeply felt aspiration of all those who suffered a loss during the two decades of horror our country lived through.
