Chino Is Dead, Ayacucho Killed Him

Fujimorismo claimed Ayacucho as one of its strongholds. Not in vain — they say — we brought them peace and they receive preferential treatment in social support programs. A chronicle of the final days of the campaign written by historian Ponciano Del Pino and anthropologist Kimberly Theidon, both from the Center for Latin American Studies at Stanford University, would suggest that a stronghold, properly speaking, it no longer is.
