THREE YEARS AFTER THE AD HOC COMMISSION: IN THE NAME OF THE INNOCENTS IN PRISON
469 people have regained their freedom through presidential pardons, following the recommendation of cases by the Ad Hoc Commission and its Technical Secretariat, an body that has just completed three years of operation. Beyond the well-deserved acknowledgments and celebrations, the fundamental question remains: are there or are there not innocent people still in prison? We believe there are, both those "already identified" and those "yet to be identified"; and we may be living through "the last opportunity" — the time for pardons is running out.
