DEBATE OVER THE PERUVIAN CVR'S FIGURES ON THE INTERNET. VOLUME I

The various aspects of the Final Report (IF) of the Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación (CVR), and in particular its figures on the number of fatal victims, were intensely debated on the Internet. These have been the most important debates carried out through this medium in Peru up to now. However, these debates are scattered across various web pages, with mailing lists that are disappearing and links that are becoming outdated. Without a centralized space, the debates become buried in a sea of information, and people return to the same arguments already made by others, with little accumulation of knowledge. Through this work I would like to offer the reader material that illustrates the various arguments raised regarding the CVR's figures. In the nineties in Peru, various Peruvian internet lists emerged that hosted interesting debates on current national affairs, such as the "Peru" list and the "Tumi" list. However, the debate on the CVR's IF was far more intense, lasted longer, took place simultaneously on various email lists, and was marked by great passion and argumentative effort from several participants.
