DANGER: THE OMBUDSMAN'S OFFICE VACANT
The work of Beatriz Merino as Ombudsman has been valuable, even though on few occasions was she able to change the painful track record and attitude against Human Rights left by Alan García's government. Nevertheless, the moral and technical stature of the Ombudsman's reports has served to show us that those who denounce the government's abuses are neither mistaken nor crazy, nor are they terrorists or communists.
